Dont Mute...
Dont Mute...
“Nature is not mute,
it is man who is deaf.”
— Terence McKenna
The "Don't Mute" series is a powerful expression of female empowerment and resilience in the face of trauma. As an artist, I am deeply passionate about creating work that speaks to the experiences of those who have been silenced, whether through sexual abuse, physical abuse, cyberbullying, appearance bias, or racial profiling.
In this series, we use the female form as a canvas, painting words of passion and resilience directly onto my chest. This live body painting takes place at Union Market in Washington DC, allowing viewers to witness the process firsthand and engage with the powerful message of the piece.
The words painted onto the chest of each subject are a reflection of our collective experiences and struggles, representing the pain and trauma we have endured, but also the strength and resilience we have found in the face of adversity. Through this series, I hope to encourage viewers to confront and speak out against the injustices they have experienced, and to find the courage to live authentically and fully in spite of these traumas.
"Don't Mute" is a call to action for all those who have been silenced or marginalized, urging them to take back their power and refuse to be silenced any longer. It is a celebration of the human spirit and the strength and resilience that can be found within each and every one of us. By bearing witness to the struggles and triumphs of my subjects, I hope to inspire others to find their own voice and to stand up for what they believe in, no matter the cost.
